Key Takeaways from IPVS 2026 – Athens, Greece
The 38th Annual Conference of the International Papillomavirus Society (IPVS 2026), held October 22–25 in Athens, Greece, brought together global experts, researchers, clinicians, public health professionals, and advocates to share the latest scientific advances and strategies for preventing HPV-related diseases.
The conference reinforced several important priorities, including accelerating HPV vaccination and screening, translating scientific discoveries into effective public health interventions, addressing inequities in prevention and access to care, and strengthening global collaboration. Discussions also highlighted emerging research, innovative diagnostic approaches, new treatment strategies, and the importance of integrating patient voices and community engagement into HPV prevention efforts.
A key takeaway was that eliminating HPV-related cancers requires more than scientific advances. It demands sustained political commitment, equitable access to prevention and care, strong partnerships, and collective action. The conference renewed the global community’s commitment to turning evidence into action and advancing a world free from HPV-related diseases.
As always, it was wonderful to make new friends and reconnect with colleagues and old friends.
